Women of India from Vivekananda's speeches

• Only in Indian or Vedic literature we find women in ancient time taking same share as men and in no other literature in the world.  
• Sage Yajnavalkya visited the Janaka kingdom and meet the assembly of learnt people. Some people asked him "How to perform sacrefies? etc...", then woman asked "What is soul? what is God?" then only we will accept as you a sage. Thereafter came the concept of Soul and God. He passed the exam on that. 
• Bride had the option to choose the groom. Kings were arranging Swayamvara for their daughters with a lot of conditions where the Bride will evaluate the groom and marriage will take place. 
• Wife are named before the Husband Sitaram, Radheshyam and many more. Even today we follow Mrs & Mr pattern. 
• The Hindu philosophy says "The central part of the entire cosmos is the absolute, which is bekground of the appeared universe". We can predicate nothing to it. It is called as Purusha. Based on that the entire ever-changing cosmos appears which is called as Prakruti/shakti. Many a time Ram is the absolute Sita is his power, so is Shiva and Parvathi. 
• From encient time the rights to properties is same for women as per man. Post marriage the woman gets a equl share of the properties. Evenif the parents are alive still the property share the valid. 
• Once a woman become a monk, she loose her identity on gender, caste etc. They are also called as Swami 
• We had many explamplries fighting woman Rani Lakshmi bai etc 
• Family system & Home is a unique concept of Indian Philosophy. Here the central part is Mother. Wife may not be considered as a equal companion to the husband however once she is is a mother then she is everything in the family. The entire family functions through Mohter. 
• If someone become a monk, even his father will salute him, the same is not true for mother. Even Monk will prostrate before mother, wash her feet and take the water as Prasad. Thats the respect the society gives to mother. 
• "Matru devo bhava" is the first teaching given to a child in this philosophy. 
• When we talk about Women in India. our idea of woman is mother. The value of woman consists in their being mother of the human race. 
• Ramakrishna Paramahamsa used to prostrate small girls, even there are some fastivals where girls childs are being warshipped. 
• First part of the food prepared in home is belong to Guests/Poors, then to Lower animals, then to Children, then to Husband and then mother. Hence woman are woshipped as mother. 
• The Hindu bowdown when the woman says "I am the mother and I command". 
• In vedic school the first lesson taught is "All woman are your own mother, all being are your own soul"
• The entire humankind has come from 3 kind of civilization - Roman, Greek & Hindu 
• Roman type : Organization, conquest, steadiness but laking the emotional nature, appreciation of beauty and the higher emotion. It's defect is cruelty. Represented by Anglo-saxon now. 
• Greek: Enthuciastic for beautiful but frivolous and has a tendency to beocme immoral . Represented by French
• Hindu: Metaphisical and religious but laking in Organization and work. Same race still exists. 
• All civilization has to mix with all there good qualities and form a new civilization, new land, new blood. This will be done through Women. Even some of the Indian scripture says that "the New incarnation of god has to come in the form of woman"
• When the whole world is trying to trace its ancestry from men distinguished with Arms and Wealths, the Hindu alone are proud to trace their descent from saints. 
• The Hindu Civilization is a wonderful vessel, which has been carrying for ages men and women across this ocean of life may have sprung small leaks here and there. If such leaks are there, I the meanest of her children , think it my duty to stop her from sinking even if I havr to do it with my life. And if I find that all my struggles are in vain, as the lord is my witness, I will tell them with my heart feltbenediction: "My brethren, you have done well-nay, better then any other race could have done under the same circumstances. You have given me all that I have. Grant me the previllege of being at your side, to the last and let us all sink together"
• Idea of Women in India is Mother, in west it is wife. Womenhood is concentrated as Wife. 
• In India we call every woman irrespective of thir age as Mother but in west if I call you as Mother they will be horrified. 
• Intellectuality is not the highest good. Morality and spirituality are the things which we strive for. Our women may not be so learnt but they are more pure.
