Pa Pu Drji Sansmaran Saptaha

The founder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Sri Keshav Baliram Pant Hedgewar or Param Pujaniya Drji as we call him, was Born into a family of Vedamurtis committed to Vedic learning and propagation, Keshav was born in Virodhi Samvatsara 1811 shakha era on the auspicious day of Varsha Pratipada - the auspicious Hindu new year in many parts of the country - the corresponding Gregorian date being 1st April 1889.

Starting today the beginning of Virodhi Samvatsaara until April 15th 2024 All Swayamsevaks and hita chintaks concerned about the wellbeing of Hindu rashtra are encouraged to take this opportunity to study and understand more about Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh through the life and work of Adya Sarsanghachalak Dr Keshav Baliram Pant Hedgewar so that we can become better instruments of the Rashtra karya.

The sansmaran sandesha each day will not be an elaborate exposition on these topics of great depth, but rather a pointer for us to study and understand further.

Day 1 Sandesha - 9th April 2024
Clarity of thought and Diagnosis.

Besides his formal Medical degree from National Medical College, Kolkata (then Calcutta) the name Drji is even more suitably applicable to Dr Hedewar because of his clarity of thought and accurate diagnosis as to why we were under foreign rule.

Drji kept seeking answer to the pertinent question that - it was always a handful of invaders, outsiders who managed to subjugate such a large and powerful Hindu nation over many instances in the past millennia - although Bharat bravely and successfully repelled these invaders and oppressors, what led the same history to repeat again and again during the last 1000 years - his quest led him to the following diagnosis.

Three fold lacunae that had crept into the Hindu society:
1. Atmavismriti
2. Atmahinata
3. Atmakendrata

Let us study the life, his interactions and work of Drji to better understand the meaning and implication of these three deficiencies that had crept into the psyche of Hindu society which according to Drji was responsible for us to repeat the same mistakes again and becoming susceptible to foreign rule despite being a country of knowledge, sacrifice, valour and high values - the great civilization that we are.

Day 2 Sandesha - 10th April 2024
First Jail Sentence

Doctorji disapproved of Gandhiji’s policy of launching the non-cooperation movement with Khilafat as its major plank. The Khilafat agitation aiming to restore the Caliphate in turkey, Doctorji argued, would only breed extra-territorial religious fanaticism among the Muslims here. But he was not the one to stand aloof as a passive spectator during a national struggle merely because it did not come up to his expectations on all points. Doctorji moved like a hurricane lighting up the torch of freedom in the hearts and minds of people. A bonfire of foreign clothes would follow at many a place at the close of his meetings. How could the government tolerate all this? Restrictions were imposed upon Doctorji about participating in public meetings, lecturing and addressing gatherings of more than five persons. Mr. Cyril James Irwin, the district collector, had passed this order on 23rd February 1921, as per Section 144. The order continued as before. At last, the government sued him on 31st May 1921. However, it was not for violating the restrictive order; the complaint was that of “sedition.” Doctorji’s speeches in Katol and Bharatwada had been found “objectionable.”

Doctorji felt that no occasion should be missed to broadcast the message of Independence. Accordingly, he decided to engage a defence counsel. The hearing began on 14th June before a Judge by name Smelly. Because of the biased attitude of the judge, Doctorji’s lawyers found it difficult to carry on defence. Doctorji therefore prepared to plead his case himself. He read out his written statement in the court which was filled to capacity on the 5th of August:

1. It has been charged that my speeches have spread discontent, hatred and feelings of sedition towards the British Empire in the British Empire in the minds of Indians and sown seeds of enmity between Indians and Europeans. And I have been asked to explain. I consider it an affront to the dignity of my great country that a foreign government should subject a native Indian to inquiry and sit in judgement.

2. I do not recognize that there exists in India today any lawfully established government. It will be surprising if anybody should claim so. What obtains today is a regime of usurped authority and a repressive rule deriving power therefrom. The present laws and courts are but handmaids of this unauthorized regime. In any part of the world, it is only a government of the people constituted for the people that is entitled to administer law. All the other forms of rule are but ruses adopted by deceitful usurpers to loot helpless nations.

3. What I tried to do was to inspire in the hearts of my countrymen an attitude of reverential solicitude for their motherland which at the moment happens to be in a wretched condition. I tried to instill in the people the conviction that India belongs to Indians. If an Indian speaking for his country and spreading the nationalist feeling is regarded as committing sedition, if he cannot speak the truth without promoting hatred between Indians and Europeans, Europeans and those claiming to be the Indian government would do well to bear in mind that the day is not far off when foreigners will be forced to quit this country.

4. The government’s version of my speech is neither accurate nor complete. Some stray notes and absurd sentences have been sloppily put together. But that does not bother me. In dealing with Britain and Europeans I have borne in mind only the basic principles that ought to govern the relationship between two countries. Whatever I have said has been with a view to asserting the birthright of my countrymen and the inevitability of securing our independence. I am prepared to stand by each word that I have uttered. Though I cannot say anything else concerning the charges against me, I am prepared to justify each word and letter of my speech; and I declare that whatever I have said is lawful.”

It was no surprise that the presiding judge exclaimed: “His defence is even more seditious than his original speech!”

Day 3 Sandesha - 11th April 2024
First Jail Sentence Cont…

At the time of Doctorji’s examination the court was filled to capacity. Not content with his statement, Doctorji followed it up with a brief speech effectively exposition and the mass of people waiting to hear every word of what he spoke, the court itself was virtually transformed into a nationalist platform! Those who heard Doctorji’s speech still recall it as an electrifying Experience.

“India belongs to Indians. We therefore demand Independence. This is the content of all my speeches People have to be told how to secure Independence, and also how to conduct themselves after securing it. Otherwise it is quite likely that our people may imitate the British in Independent India. The British, though they are aggressing on other nations and governing them through repressive measures. But the very same British people are ready to shed blood when their own country’s independence is threatened. The recent war bears testimony to it. We are therefore obliged to advise our people, ‘Dear countrymen don’t imitate the aggressive ways of the British. Secure independence by peaceful means; and be happy and content with your own country without hungering for others’ territories.’ In order to explain this idea I cannot avoid referring to current political issues. That the British have been carrying on their despotic rule in our beloved country is obvious to everyone. What law is there that gives one country the right to rule over another? I am asking you, the counsel for government, this simple and straight question.  Can you answer it? Is it not against natural justice? If it is true that no country has a right to rule over another country, who gave the British the authority to trample the people of India under their feet? Do the British belong to this land? How then can they enslave us and declare that they own this country? Is it not the most blatant murder of justice, morality and dharma?

“We have no desire to dispossess Britain and rule over it. Just as the British in Britain and the Germans in Germany rule over themselves, we who this country of India wish to rule over ourselves and carry on our own affairs. Our mind revolts at the thought of remaining the slaves of the British Empire and carrying that stigma for all time. We demand nothing short of Complete Independence. Till we achieve it we cannot be at peace. Is our desire to be free and independent in our own country against morality and law? I believe that law exists not to demolish morality and law? I believe that law exists not to demolish but to enforce it. That ought to be the prime purpose of law.”

In his judgement delivered on 19th August, Justice Smelly ordered Doctorji to give an undertaking in writing that he would not deliver seditious speeches in future for a period of one year and furnish bail of rupees three thousand.

Doctorji’s reaction was sharp and short: “My conscience tells me that I am completely innocent. A policy of repression would only add fuel to the fire already raging because of government’s vicious policies. I am convinced that the day is not far off for the foreign regime to reap the fruits of its sinful actions. I have faith in the justice of the Omnipresent God. I therefore refuse to comply with the order for bail.”

Even as Doctorji finished his reply, the judge pronounced one year’s rigorous imprisonment for him. Doctorji smilingly received the verdict, and left the courtroom for the prison. People who had come to witness the hearing thronged around Doctorji in a surge of enthusiasm. Rambhau Gokhale garlanded Doctorji on behalf of the City Congress, followed by Vishwanathrao Kelkar and others. Full-throated slogans filled the air. Doctorji bowed to Abaji Hedgewar, Sitaramji, Dr. Moonje and other elders. Barrister Abhyankar, Vaidya Harkare and others bade Doctorji a hearty farewell and urged him to speak a few words. Doctorji said:“As you are aware, I have defended myself in this case of sedition against me. However, these days, there is an impression going round that arguing in one’s defence is an act of treachery to the national movement. But I feel it is highly unwise to merely get crushed like a bug when a case is foisted upon us. It is our duty to expose to the whole world the wickedness of the foreign rulers. That would indeed be an act of patriotism. And not to defend ourselves, on the other hand, would be a suicidal policy. You may, if you so choose refuse to defend yourself; but for God’s sake don’t consider those who disagree with you as being less patriotic. If in the course of our patriotic duty we are called upon to enter the prison or be transported to the Andamans, or even face the gallows, we shall have to willingly do so. But let us not be under the illusion that jail-going is all in all, that it is the only path for achieving freedom. There are, in fact, so many fields of national service awaiting us outside the prison. I would be back amongst you after one year. Till then, of course, I will not be in touch with the national development, but I am confident that by then the movement for Complete Independence will have gained added momentum. Now, it is no more possible to keep down Hindustan under the heels of foreign domination. I offer my gratitude to you all and bid you good-bye.”
Doctorji left for the jail in a horse-drawn tonga, accompanied by police officials. The mass of people kept up continuous cheering: “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” “Doctor Hedgewar Ki Jai.” It was on Friday, 19th August 1921, that Doctorji moved into the prison. That very evening a public meeting to honour him in absentia was convened in the Townhall grounds. Barrister Govindrao Deshmukh presided. Dr. Moonje, Narayanrao Harkare and Vishwanathrao Kelkar – all spoke in a warm strain. "Because of his sacrifice and deep concern for the nation, Dr. Hedgewar will doubtless be the leader of the coming generation," said Harkare. They all showered unstinted praise on Doctorji for his commitment to Complete Independence. Speaking at the end, Vishwanathrao Kelkar recalled the message Doctorji had delivered just before proceeding to the prison.

Day 4 Sandesha - 12th April 2024

The Prognosis - a permanent solution to address all the challenges our Hindu Rashtra is facing
We had discussed that, Pa Pu Dr Hedgewar had identified the problems we are facing in the following broad category:

1. Atmavismriti
2. Atmahinata
3. Atmakendrata

It is to be noted that Drji had tried first hand - with the Revolutionary activities starting with Anushilan samiti up to various other revolutionary organisations and stalwarts.
Dr ji even worked for a considerable amount of time with the Indian National Congress to see if he could realise the same results - he in fact was the joint Secretary of Congress for Central Provinces and Berar, he worked with many stalwarts in Congress and was himself a very tall leader.
The British CID were keeping a close watch on his activities; he was jailed on 2 occasions, one term lasting almost a whole year.
It is to be noted that he was among the foremost in the British CID most wanted watch list - as he was considered extremely dangerous to the Queen’s rule - the code word given by British CID to refer to Drji was Cocaine , these are recorded in British records by their own intelligence officer Charles Teggart.
A self-critical analysis:
Drji realised the lack of discipline (affecting coordinated effort), self centeredness and ego clashes (which he saw in abundance among senior congress leaders), lack of humility, compromising the core cause for short term and political gain, lack of conviction on being a Hindu, inability to carry everyone together and sticking to the decision of the organisation - many such issues ranging from that of personal and national character was impeding both the fight for freedom and that it was not addressing the root cause of the nations weakness that allowed it to be subjugated again without lessons learned.

Amidst all these experiences, Drji never lost sight of the cherished Goal - he did not get carried away by his activities and was always critically questioning himself if all these led towards the cherished Goal, was it a temporary fix or did it offer a permanent solution?
After various discussion and experiments, Drji arrived at an informed decision to start a new movement which will have the unadulterated Goal of Taking This Hindu Rashtra once again to the pinnacle of its glory through Character building (vyakti nirman) and Hindu Sanghatan With preserving and nurturing this great Sanatana Hindu Dharma as the precondition for attaining the cherished Goal.

An answer to all these was his concept of Shakha, a one hour karyakram where Hindus will gather under a common Flag/Dhwaj with common purpose - with just the Hindu identity and work on their vyakti nirman in a family-like environment of shuddha sattvik prem.
These Men (Swayamsevaks) will then work out the solutions for all the problems facing the society by taking together the entire society around them. And thus Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh came into being.  In the next Sansmaran, let us have a look into a couple of instances that highlight the great personality that Drji was, an embodiment of an Ideal/Adarsha Swayamsevak.

Veer Savarkar - Baudhik

1. Inspired by the sacrifice of Chapekar brothers he took an oath at the young age of 8 in front of their family goddess that “he will struggle for his whole life to free the country from foreign yoke

2. He founded the revolutionary organization “Abhinav Bharat” and was the first to organize a pyre of foreign clothes under guidance of Lokmanya Tilak.

3. To become a barrister he sailed to England and stayed at India House in London.

4. In 1908, he celebrated the golden jubilee of 1857 War of Independence in London and inspired the Indian youth to take up the national cause

5. He was the inspiration behind Madanlal Dhingra, a carefree youth turned into revolutionary, who killed Curzon Wayli.

6. He was hanged in London but sacrificed his life without any remorse and roared in the British court that “It was God’s work to fight for the cause of freedom of motherland”

7. Veer Savarkar was involved in smuggling weapons like guns into India from England. One of the smuggled weapon i.e revolver was used by Anant Kanhere to kill Jackson, collector of Nasik. The weapon was traced to London and he was arrested for conspiring against the government.

8. He was awarded 2 back to back life imprisonments in Andaman i.e 48 years and the year of start was 1912. He is said to have commented in the court that “ With 2 life imprisonments, British government has accepted the Hindu concept of rebirth”

10. During transportation to India, he jumped from ship at Marseilles and was captured illegally from French coast by British police. Hence he became the first Indian whose case was argued at International Court of Justice at Hague

11. When in chains in jail of Mumbai his young wife came to meet him. It was probably the last meeting as he was going into jaws of death but the confidence of this man was unshakeable. How he consoled his wife is legendary, he said “if accumulating a few sticks and giving birth to children is life, then it is led by birds and animals but we are HUMAN. Even if we are ruined today, imagine thousands of lives who will smile because of us”. They both agreed to recite a shloka at same time during the day and thus meet mentally if not physically.

13. When in Andaman he was put in solitary confinement and was subjected to “kolhu” for oil extraction. If not fulfill the stipulated amount of oil one would receive lashes or would be confined in chains in a very uncomfortable position.

15. Even for nature’s call a fixed time was allotted and at night one had to relieve himself in a pot which would lie in the same cell.

16. Talking to any other prisoner was a strict NO and others would get harsh punishment for talking to Savarkar. No newspaper or books or paper for a literary giant like him.

17. Several revolutionaries were either driven to suicide or became mentally unstable due to the inhuman treatment. After a year he came to know that his elder brother was also in Andaman and with lot of efforts could only see him once.

18. He wrote novels, dramas and poetry on the walls of cell. Since there was also change of prison cells, he would memorize all the text he had written before. Every day he would memorize text he had composed before and while completing hard physical labor would compose poems or dramas. He composed literature of 10000 lines during his confinement in Andaman

19. The jail superintendent being a Pathan, there was a lot of encouragement for conversion of prisoners. Savarkar not only stopped that but reversed the trend by claiming that a person can become a HINDU with bath and chanting OM NAMAH SHIVAY.

20. When the question arose about official language he encouraged people for their preference to HINDI breaking the supremacy of URDU/PERSIAN.

21. It was due to his efforts that not only INDIAN but BRITISH PARLIAMENT had to discuss the condition of prisoners in ANDAMAN and soften the treatment meted out to them.

22. During confinement at Ratnagiri, he took up the cause against untouchability and started the first temple which was open for all castes. He composed several seminal works during

his confinement in Ratnagiri, prominent among them are Hindutva, Six Golden Pages of Indian History, My Life Imprisonment and several others.

23. Doctorji met him during his stay and discussed the cause of Hindu Organization which fructified in form of RSS.

RSS Utsav - Vijayadashami or Dasara fastival

Vijayadashami/Dasara/Dashahara/Navaratri/Durgotdsav:

This is one of the very important & fascinating festivals of Bharat, which is celebrated on shukla-paksh dashami of Ashwin (usually in September or October).

The basic purpose behind this festival is to worship feminine principle of the whole cosmos:

This reminds us our great oldest systems of Indian philosophy – “Sankhya”. It is founded by Sage Kapila.  The Sankhya school of philosophy recognizes two eternal principles called Purusha and Prakriti.
Ø  Purusha is eternal, something that does not create, uncreated, passive, absolute, infinite, pure, neither the cause nor the effect, consciousness and indestructible.
Ø  Prakriti is eternal, uncreated something that creates, dynamic absolute, infinite, cause and active.

Sankhya states that a fine and subtle matter or principle is the basis of our physical existence. It is is called Prakriti or nature. It is the primal substance behind the universe. It is the material cause of the world, it is the first and foremost cause of all the gross and subtle objects. It is non self, incomprehensible and without consciousness. It gets affected and influenced by the Purusha(self or the spirit). It can only appear as the various objects of experience of the Purusha. The basic nature or Prakriti and the individual souls or Purusha coexist with one another so that the beautiful Sristhi is a reality before us. We can interpret this Prakriti as the feminine principle.

“ya devi sarvabhutesu (shakti, gyana, kama, buddhi, shanti, maya etc…) rupena samsthita…namastesai namastesai namastesai namoh namah...”  Whatever we are perceiving using all our senses, whatever we can complement using our gyanendriya (Senses of knowledge) is nothing but Durga. Everything gross or subtle are nothing but the same Devine principle. This is the time to recognize that.  She is the Shakti/power, things moves only because of her, Earth is rotating only because of her,

in the form of the divine mother to remind the teachings of the Taitareeya Upanishad, "Matru Devo Bhava." Essence of the navaratri celebration at social level is to remind & respect all the women, who are the guardians of the family, culture, and national integrity, to take lead in times of crisis to guide the humanity towards the path of social justice, righteousness, equality, love, and divinity. Durga is worshipped as the main deity of Navaratri by all the segments of  society including tribal communities. Dasara coincide with the period of rest & leisure of the farmers after their strenuous hard work in their farms & fields, hence they invoke blessings of Durga in order to have a rich harvest in the next coming season.

Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Hindavi (Hindu) Swarajya used to always worship Lord Shiva & Goddess Durga in the form of goddess Bhawani before any military expedition. Goddess Bhavani had blessed Shivaji Maharaj with her own sword called “Bhavani Talwar”. Dasara is the festival of Victory of Good over Bad, God over Devil.

The Birth of Mahishaasura Mardini & the unique message:

All the God fought with the demoin power for years all together without a result. They came to know that only a feminine divine power can kill this monster. The requested Maa Lakshmi to come and kill. However Maa Lakshmi asked, “I am goddess for wealth and auspiciousness”.  That is not my area of work also I do not have required strength, please go to Maa Kali. Kali told “I am the owner of the absolute power and strength however I cannot have all the strategy required to kill the monster”. Saraswati told ,“I am the owner of the absolute knowledge, I know the past, present as well as the future of the monster, however I am not powerful enough to face the monster”. There was a big void in the whole cosmos no one is there who is readily capable and available to kill the monster. They needed a united powers of Maa Lakshmi, Maha Saraswati, Maha Kali and Maha Maheswari.  At one stage the Gods felt powerless against the onslaughts of the demoniac forces headed by Mahishaasura. In answer to their prayers for protection, they were ordered to part with a portion of their divine powers to form into a new Goddess. It was thus that Mahishaasura Mardini took on a physical form as the combined might of 33 crores of Gods.

Learning:
1.      Individual skill, power, talent in their true absolute sense looks nothing before problem
2.      Even the good and the righteous can succeed against the evil forces only when they come together in an organized endeavor.
3.      Could there be a more telling message to the present-day disorganized Hindu people - many of them individually good and pious but who have remained incapable of overcoming the forces inimical to them and their culture?
4.      Truly has it been said, 'Sanghe shaktih kalau yuge' - Organization holds the key to strength in Kaliyuga. And this is the one single, most important lesson which the Hindu people have to learn today.
5.      Every page of our past history bears testimony to the shocking phenomenon of how the Hindus, though immensely superior in culture, wealth, armies, territory and sheer numbers to the foreign aggressors, were defeated and enslaved. And all this tragedy because of their fatal drawback of disorganization.
6.      Now, it is high time the Hindus learnt the bitter lesson of the past and realize that "Organization is life and disorganization is death".
7.       This strength is termed “nigrahaanugraha shakti”, i.e., while on the one hand it destroys the wicked, on the other it protects the good and the holy (as reiterated in Bhagvat Geeta, paritranay sadhunaam, vinashaay cha duskritaam).

Stories associated with Vijayadashami day(signifying the victory of the forces of righteousness over those of wickedness.):
1.      Pandavas came out of agyaat-vaas and took up astra (weapons) to fight on Vijayadashami day. Even though Pandavas had literally nothing post vanvaas, even forces from allied kingdoms were much lesser compared to that of Kauravas. But Pandavas were on the side of dharma and at the end they were able to defeat the adharmic forces (Kauravas & their allies).
2.      Shri Ramchandra reached lanka with force of vanaras (Monkeys) to fight Ravana having the huge army of the ferocious demons and all sort of divya & mayavi astra (weapons). It was no match between the armies of Shri Ramachandra & Ravana. Even though Shri Rama looked weak, he eventually defeated and killed mighty Ravana because dharma was on his side.
3.      Mahisasur  asked for vardaan that, no deva, asura, animal & man can kill him and assumed he became amar (immortal). He under-estimated the power of women; and never thought to include in his wish. Drunk on power & immortality, he started creating havoc everywhere. This is when all Devas came together to create matru-swarupa & Shakti-swarupa Goddess Durga. Once again, Goddess Durga seemingly weak compared to Mahsasura, killed him and brought an end to the adharmic forces.
4.      Doctor ji, started sangh also on Vijayadashami day of 1925 and successfully we have come a long way in last 94yrs; still a lot needs to be done.
5.      On Vijayadashami Day, we are symbolically breaking our Sakha/milan boundaries and going into newer/bigger area as part of sanchalan. Sanchalan done in Purna Ganavesh and with perfect discipline and synchronization along with Ghos excites anybody and everybody witnessing it. The society around us gets to see the presence of sangh as part of it. It also acts Shakti-pradarshan (Ajey Shakti, not to harm normal people), which instills sense of confidence & saftey in hindu samaj.

No matter how small, weak or out-numbered the Dharmic forces seem, once they come together and take on adharmic forces with the sincere & untiring efforts, they are able to defeat the adharma.

Baudhik about Ram Janmabhumi Movement

Bouddhik: Ram Janmabhoomi Aandolan:

Ram + Janma + Bhumi + Andolan :

Why it is important?

Ram is the true reflection of Indian Philosophy. Dharma is an Indian only terminology. “Ramo Vigrahavan dharma”… Every perspective of Dharma which a human intellect can think up is there in Ram. Talk is incomplete if we talk about Ram without mentioning Indian Philosophy. It is such a philosophy and Civilization which has gone beyond human intellect. This is the only civilization which has understand the Cosmos bit by bit and as a whole. Just giving an example just consider our Language, Each faculty of the human mouth us being used to utter our alphabet system that is not true for English language.
Giving some example of going beyond human intellect, Let’s say An ideal tree? What can be an ideal tree? Which can give fruit, leaf, life, water, any boon, god…..We had Vatbrukshya…… Ideal Cow ?  Kamadhenu……..Ideal flight – Puspakavimana. Ideal Man (Purushottama – Sri Ramachandra). All the quality a human intellect can think of for an ideal Purusha is there only with Sri Ramachandra nobody else. Such is Maryada0-purushottama -Sri Ramachandra.
He is the real master who can elevate himself such a level that he can talk to Animals (It is very much possible even today, it is one level of intellect vs another…. Human intellect vs subhuman intellect…. If you are already in an upper level then we should able to understand the lower level intellect….), partnership with them, stay in Jungle….

We are fortunate that he was born in this earth, that to the piece of land where we are sharing with. Bharatha ..…. Ratnakara dhautapadam..himalaya kiritinim…..Brhmarajasyaratnyadhyam…vande bharatamataram.

He born in Ayodhya of this sacred land. He roamed each and every place in Bharath…where he could not visit, he made sure that his team visited.  He is the force behind our unity. He made sure that  we all are connected not only through geographically, but also spiritually, intellectually, culturally, ethically and so on.

His Janamabhumi Ayodhya: Educationally people know that that is his janmabhumi, Spiritually also it is his janmabhumi….however we reached to an era where even my grandfather and grandmother also needs a marriage certificate unless that……

Movement: Andolon , samuhik sangharsh to get some positive change in something, which is spontaneous (Swatah-spurtha)…Seeing any wrong doing and everybody have concerned for that. Everybody will come out to support that. RJB Movement has been like that.

Is the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi a political movement?

Should the Muslim be upset and sad for the Babri Structure demolish?
·        A true Indian Muslim should not consider this as a Holy place. Else they end up owning the barbarism of Babur and others like him. The right way for Muslims is to distance themselves away from such vandalism and barbarism of the past.
·        When the Germans are asked to apologies for the crimes of Hitler, they do not hesitate to do so, clearly indicating that they do not own Nazism.
·        Hindus have asked for a peaceful return, through judiciary and negotiations, of only three of their holy sites (Ayodhya, Mathura and Kashi) that were vandalized. Hindus are not asking for thousands of other temples that were plundered, looted, destroyed and mosques were built thereupon.
What has been the case with similar historically vandalized sites?

·        In 1918 in Warsaw, Poland, At the end of first Russian occupation of Poland for 300 years (1614-1915),
o   One of the first things that Polish people did was to bring down the Russian Orthodox Christian Cathedral/church that was built by Russians in the center of the town.
o   This was done despite the fact Poles are Christians by faith and Jesus Christ was worshipped in that Cathedral/church.
o   The Poles demolished the Church built by Russians because they viewed the Cathedral not as a place of worship rather a structure that reminded them of their slavery.
·        Around the 12th century in Spain,
o   Spain was conquered by Moors and the people were forcibly converted from Christianity to Islam.
o   In the 16th century, when Christians recovered the whole of Spain from Moors they gave Muslims in their country only three choices—reconvert to Christianity, leave the country along with the Moors, or be killed.
o   All the Muslim places of worship were converted back to Christian churches. This re-Christianisation was also done with force.

o   It is a clear sign of the immense unifying power of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement.

Archaeological evidence by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI):
·        After extensive excavations has established it beyond doubt that there did exist a grand temple at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi site that was razed down to build Babari structure.

·        Books by Muslim Writers
o   Sahifa-e-Chahal Nasa-ih-Bahaddur Shahi : by the daughter of Alamgir, son of Bahadur Shah (End of 17th century and beginning of 18th century) : The Masjids, which have been built on the basis of orders of Badashah (Ba Farman-e-Badashahi) are not permitted to hold Namaz prayers, nor to read the Khutba therein. The Hindus (Kufr) have lot of faith in the Hindu temples situated in Mathura, Benaras, Avadh etc. Like the birth place of Kanhaya, Sita Rasoi (kitchen), Hanuman Sthan, where he had sat in the proximity of Shri. Ramachandra on return after the Lanka victory. All these places were destroyed and Mosques were built on those spots only with a view to display the Islamic power. These Masjids have not been given the permission to hold Juma and Jamiyat (Namaj offered on Juma). But it was made mandatory not to worship any idols in them nor should any sound of conch shells be allowed to fall on the Muslim ears…
o   Hadika-e-Shahda by Mirzha Jan – 1856 : Mirza Jan, who claims that he has studied various ancient sources indepth, asserts in his statements that the earlier Sultans did encourage the propagation and glorification of Islam and trampled the non-believers (Kufr) i.e. Hindu forces. Thus they redeemed Faizabad and Avadh of this mean tradition (Kufr) …… This (Avadh) was a very big centre of worship and the capital city of the kingdom of Ram’s father. There was a majestic temple on the spot a huge Musjid was constructed there on and a small canopy Mosque (Kanati Masjid) on the spot, where there was a small Mandap. The Janmasthan temple was the original birth place (Maskat) of Ram. Adjacent to it, there is the Sita Rasoi. ……Sita is the name of Ram’s wife. Hence Badashah Babar got constructed a tall (Sarbuland) Masjid on that spot under the guidance of Moosa Ashikan. The same Mosque is known as Sita Rasoi till today.
o   Fasana-e-Ibrat: by Mirza Rajab Ali Baig Sarur During the regime of Badashah Babur, a grand Mosque was constructed on the site pertaining to Sita Rasoi in Avadh. This was the Babari Masjid. Since the Hindus were not strong enough to oppose, the Masjid was constructed under the guidance of Sayyad Mir Ashikan…..
o   Gumgasht-e-Halat-e-Ayodhya Avadh : by Moulavi Abdul Karim (Imam of Babari Musjid) – 1885 While giving details of the Dargah of Hazarat Shah Jamal Gojjari, the author writes that there is Mahalla Akbarpur on the east of this Dargah, whose other name is Kot Raja Ramachandra also. There were some Burz (Large cells with domes) in this Kot. There were the house of birth (Makan Paidaish) of the above mentioned Raja (King) and the Rasoi (Kitchen); besides, the western Burz and this premise is presently known as Janmasthan and Rasoi Sita. After demolishing and wiping out these houses (i.e. Janmasthan and Sita Rasoi), Badashah Babar got constructed a grand (Ajim) Masjid on that spot.
o   Tarikh-e-Avadh : by Allama Mohammed Nazamul Ghani Khan Rampuri – 1909 Babar constructed a grand Mosque under the protection of Sayyad Ashikan on the very same spot where once stood the temple of Janmasthan of Ramachandra in Ayodhya. Just adjacent to it stood the Sita Rasoi the date of Mosque construction is Khair Banki (Al Hizri 923). Till today this is known as Sita Rasoi. That temple stands just beside this…..

o   The names of the books written by some other Muslim authors which have the quotations confirming the construction of Masjid after destroying the temple are as follows:-
§  * Zia-e-Akhtar : by Haji Mohammed Hassan – 1878
§  * Kesar-ul-Tawarikh or Tawarikh-e-Avadh Vol.II : by Kamaluddin Hyder Hussain Al Hussain Al Mashahadi.
§  * Asrar-e-Haqiqat : by Lachhami Narayan Sadr Kanongo Assistant of munshi Moulavi Hashami
§  * Hindostan Islami Ahad : by Moulana Hakim Sayid Abdul Hai – 1972

Works and Reports by foreign authors
1. History and Geography of India : by Joseph Typhentheller – 1785
Babur constructed a Masjid after demolishing the Ram Janmsthan temple…and using its pillars. Hindus refused to give up the place and they continue to come to that place in spite of the efforts by Mughals to prevent them from coming there. That they constructed a platform called Ram Chabutara in the compound of the Masjid. They circumambulate it for three times and prostrate flat on the ground before it. They were following this devotional conduct at Ram Chabutara and inside the Masjid also.
2. Gazeteers of the Province of Oundh – 1877
This confirms that the Mughals had destroyed three important Hindu temples and constructed Masjids on those places. Babar built Babari Masjid on Ramajanmbhumi in 1528
3. Faizabad Settlement Report – 1880
This report confirms the fact that Babar got constructed the Babari Masjid in 1528 on the place of Janmasthan temple that marks the birth-place of Ram.
4. The Court Decision: by Judge Colonel F. E. A. Chaimier While reading out his decision on the Civil Appeal No. 27 of 1885 after personally inspecting the site of the Babari Masjid, the district judge had said, “It is most unfortunate to have built a Mosque on the land, which has been considered as holy, especially by the Hindus. But the time of finding a solution for this complaint has lapsed. Because this event has taken place 356 years ago.”
5. Indian Archaeological Survey Report: by A. Fuhrer – 1891 Fuhrer accepts that Mir Khan had built the Babari Mosque on the same place of Ram Janmabhumi by using several of its pillars. He has further confirmed that Aurangzeb had similarly constructed two other Mosques at Swarg Dwar and Treta Thakur Mandir in Ayodhya.
6. Barabanki District Gazeteers : by H.R. Nevil – 1902— Nevil states that a number of conflicts arose between Hindu priests of Ayodhya and the Muslims from time to time about the piece of land, where upon once stood the Junmasthan temple, which was destroyed by Babar and a Mosque was constructed on that place.

7. Encyclopaedia Britannica, 15th edition Vol. I – 1978 :- There is a mention of constructing a Mosque by Babar in place of a temple that existed on the birth place of Ram prior to 1528 AD. A photograph of the existing structure is also given in this Encyclopaedia, which has been referred to as a Mosque constructed on the birth place of Ram in Ayodhya of Uttar Pradesh state in India. Similar information were furnished in its earlier editions as well.

So many indirect movements happened:
On cow slaughter ban, they were able to travel through the country for a signature campaign and get as many as 1.75 crore signatures. It was a first-of-its-kind exercise for the RSS. They were able to connect with a lot of people, a lot of princely states and the Hindu religious leaders through this.
The swayamsevaks had planned to sell three lakh Ganga jal bottles during four cross-country yatras to raise money for construction of a Ram temple.
VHP-organised Ekatmata Yatra, So many Rath Yatra…..

But more importantly, from their point of view, they were able to expand their reach to grassroots level.

So now that the RSS has been able to realise their two big missions - removal of Article 370 and getting Supreme Court’s nod to build Ram Mandir in Ayodhya… We are achieving  all these without breaking our philosophy, without killing anyone, no by force by judiciary system.

To transform BJP in such a fashion so that Narendra Modi can come and take over the party.
- To make Hindutva mainstream, so that people aren’t shy of claiming it for themselves.
- Clearing decks for construction of Ram Mandir
- Presiding over the expansion of RSS and making it largest Hindu organization in the world.

So all our effort is getting paid up
